Claims from various OPC suppliers such as 440 mg OPC complex suggest that 440 mg OPC is obtainable, but this may represent the entire content of the capsule. The OPC content can be measured by various methods. In our years of experience, we have observed that the safest method is the HPLC-method. In particular we use the RP-HPLC method (PV.03.P194_02) Test specification for OPC analysis (click here to view), wwhich is the most commonly used method of analysis of quality botanicals.
Dr. Michalzik’s OPC is produced under the supervision of medical professionals in Germany. Only materials of the highest quality are used.
Dr. Michalzik’s OPC contains no fillers fillers (resulting in slightly higher production costs) and only natural substances are used, resulting in an exceptionally high concentration of OPC (oligomeric procyanidins). Polyphenols (270 mg of total polyphenols per capsule) are not just OPC! In addition to the OPC other important polyphenols (antioxidant active substances) are included, such as monomeric procyanidins.
According to our company’s philosophy, we leave our OPC in its natural plant compound. Since OPC is fat and water soluble, it is perfectly absorbed by the body (high bioavailability).

OPC by Dr. Michalzik is subject to strict examinations of German supervisory authorities. It is manufactured by use of gentle production technologies without heat or additives in the capsule filling and without the use of processing agents which are not required to be mentioned on the packaging.

When OPCs are separated in the body, they no longer form the original blocks (catechins) but substances with a new identity possessing a larger spectrum. Therefore they are called pro cyanidins since they do not disintegrate into catechins but cyanidins. Green tea, for example, contains mainly monomeric (single) catechins, which are not comparable to OPC. A peeled banana turns brown, iron will rust. The reason is the oxidation of these substances by radical oxygen molecules (free radicals).
